Якщо ми хочемо навчитися розуміти мову музики, треба розглянути основні елементи та властивості, з яких вона складається.

Найважливішим елементом музичної мови є мелодія – «душа музики». Коли ми наспівуємо улюблений мотив без слів та без супроводу, ми можемо чути лише мелодію. Це – основна думка вокального чи інструментального твору.

Мелодія – музична думка, образний зміст якої виражений одним голосом.

The most important element of musical language is the melody - "soul of music". When we sing our favorite motif without words and unaccompanied, we can only hear a melody. This is the main idea of a vocal or instrumental work.

Melody is a musical thought whose figurative meaning is expressed in one voice.

Також дуже важливим елементом музичної мови є гармонія, яку ми чуємо, слухаючи супровід до мелодії.

Гармонія – співзвуччя, елемент музичної мови.

Музичні звуки, поєднуючись один з одним, сприймаються по-різному. Одні – як стійкі ступені. Композитор закінчує пісню або інструментальну п’єсу стійкими ступенями. А інші звуки викликають відчуття незавершеності і хочуть рухатися до стійкого ступеню.

Звичайно, композитор не може виразити всю красу музики, не використовуючи динаміку. Завдяки динамічним відтінкам музика стає виразнішою й емоційнішою. В перекладі з грецької мови слово «динаміка» означає «сила». Цей елемент музичної мови пов'язаний із гучністю звучання.

Of course, the composer can not express all the beauty of music without using the dynamics. Thanks to dynamic shades, music becomes more expressive and emotional. In Greek, the word "dynamics" means "power". This element of the musical language is associated with the volume of the sound.

Виразність музики, характер і настрій залежить і від швидкості виконання пісні – темпу. Основний темп виконання музичного твору ми можумо побачити напочатку пісні, біля назви. Темп позначається італійським терміном.

Allegro – швидко;

Vivace – жваво;

Andante – спокійно;

Moderato – помірно, стримано;

Adagio – повільно.
